Our History

Planning Forward was started by Mark Ambrose over 30 years ago.

Mark passed away in June 2019.  He was a pioneer of the industry moving from general insurance to life insurance in 1981 and then on to Financial Planning in the mid 1990’s when the industry was in its infancy.  He was always passionate about ensuring people were sufficiently covered in the event of illness and injury and felt that overall financial planning was a logical extension of this, with a broadening of focus to cover life goals and the best way to achieve them.

He felt the best way to achieve this was to be as separate from the larger financial institutions as possible and was an early member of both Associated Planners and Fortnum, both non-aligned dealer groups seeking to support advisers to deliver the best advice possible.

He grew the business to a level that was efficient, without wanting to corporatize it to a point of losing its personal connection with clients.

Danny McMahon joined as a partner in the business in 2004, expanding the business in assisting with tailored investment solutions. Bridget Ambrose became a partner in the business after completing her degree in Bachelor of Applied Finance and has been assisting clients with strategic advice since 2010.  Philip Stathopoulos has been with Planning Forward since 2013 and through not only his knowledge, but also his empathy, is enjoying guiding people in all aspects of financial advice.

We miss Mark a great deal but look forward to continuing his legacy with personal service and genuine care.
